How do members contribute money?
Tunza offers three flexible ways to handle contributions, depending on how your group prefers to operate:
1. The Manual Record Method (Traditional Way)
If your group already has a routine, you don’t have to change it. Members can continue sending money directly to the Treasurer or the group's bank account and share the receipt. The Treasurer then manually updates the system, and the member instantly receives an SMS alert confirming the contribution and their updated balance.
2. Connect Your Own Paybill (Automated Integration)
If your group has its own Safaricom M-Pesa Paybill number, Tunza can integrate with it directly. When a member pays via your Paybill, Tunza automatically captures the transaction and updates the member's records instantly. The Treasurer doesn't have to lift a finger—just log in and view the clean, automated reports.
3. Use TunzaPaypoint (Hands-Free Collection)
If your group doesn't have a dedicated Paybill, you can let Tunza collect the funds on your behalf. Members pay directly through the platform, records are updated instantly, and Tunza routes the funds straight into your group's bank account. Both members and Treasurers receive real-time reports.
The Unique Member Wallet: Whichever method your group selects, every single member has a unique digital wallet tied to their profile. Whenever a payment is made, the system automatically splits and assigns the money to the correct allocation (e.g., Savings, Welfare, or Loan Repayments) and sends a clear confirmation of the specific breakdown and remaining balances.
